The shoot took place at the lovely couple's new home and the nearby park area. What a beautiful neighborhood. The shoot went smooth as these two were just very lovey dovey and did not need much input from us. We love these kind of couples because the photos are so true and really does tell the love story between the two.

Danielle and Tim's Big Day was very romantic and beautiful, with everything held at the beautiful Calamigo's Ranch in Malibu. There were many little details such as the hand made table center pieces, as well as the thoughts and ideas behind their ceremony tree planting ceremony. So this shoot was sort of an emotional rollercoaster...Not in a bad way of course. But basically, due to recent rain, this shoot had been rescheduled once or twice. And when we finally went to this shoot, with the weather saying that it will not rain until the evening....it did start to rain during the shoot. But what do you know, the clouds literally parted for Shelby and Michael. In the middle of the shoot, the rain picked up, and actually stopped, opening up just this little patch of perfectly blue and color sky! It was perfect!

With the recent weather, this shoot was actually postponed from its original date. but what do you know, the 2nd time we went, it was perfect weather, blue skies, comfy temperature. And these 2 were also so in tune with each other that the shoot was just such a fun experience. We walked around the neighborhood grabbing some architectural backgrounds, went around to the docks, and hit up the beach. and at some point, a lone tree stood at the entrance of the beach area. Perfect opportunity to change it up a bit! We cropped it so that it looks like the photo is done at a desert!

Whittier Narrows, the special place for these two... the shoot was very personalized and very fun. They went around the grounds, picked dandelions, played around on the kids' playground...those were quite genuine moments that we captured!

This was a beautiful and very moving event. Small and cozy, guests and family members flew in all the way from China to celebrate the wedding for the lovely couple. There were many moving moments throughout the day where Gracie teared up... you can totally see that it's just a mixture of emotions for her. In the heat of July, these 2 have decided to get hitch, where other then Vegas baby! and as perfect as everything was, what was even better was that it rained in Vegas, and totally cooled the crazy heat down. Since it was a chapel wedding, we spent the extra time going around places to basically do a "Day After Shoot", except it was on the actual wedding day. Perfect event, totally about the two of them, no guests or details to worry about :)

A little unexpected, but perfectly fun and worth it. We started Rona and Chris' shoot at their house with their doggie... while it took a while for it to sit down and hold still, we still managed and meanwhile got a bunch of funny action shots...doggie running around chasing after the ball, etc. Later on, we moved on to many different locations, and had gotten some really unique photos. In one, we definitely put Chris to a work out by making him run up and down some stair cases, so we can capture a motion shot of him blurring up and down.

And the best part was that we didn't even need to leave the resort! the Sandals Royal Bahamian was just the perfect backdrop for Connie and Dustin's romantic photos. We utilized much of the locations on the resort, got some really cool pix, some real romantic pix, and then of course: went over to the beach to get the beautiful blue skies and waters. and what do you know, 5 drops of rain later (literally like 5 drops and that's it), the rainbow came out!

So our big destination wedding in the Bahamas! We had lots of fun photographing the wedding as everyone was just so full of fun. Right before the ceremony, clouds came in and kept everyone nice and cool. For a while, we were starting to get a little nervous that it might just start raining! But just when Connie started walking down the aisle, the clouds parted! It was just amazing! Perfect blue skies and fluffy white clouds, along with the beautiful beach, that served as the perfect backdrop for the lovely couples romantic ceremony. yes there's a stray kitty on the resort?! where the couple was to be married at. on cloud 9... this school of very tiny fish actually swam up to us and circled me round and round. at first i was very excited, and then i started wondering why they're surrounding me... :P time to catch up on my tan! the cutest set up on the resort. on our location scouting day, me and jen here brain stormed on how we are going to incorporate this into the wedding couples photos. as we scouted out the locations for scenic spots, jen here was trying to figure out some poses for the bride?!

At this shoot, we had lots of fun just playing with available light, lots of sun glares, etc. we have to admit, after a couple of those shots, we were left a bit blinded for a little time. Bridgette and Alex were very patient with us as our eyes recovered. and went on to putting up with more of our "fun" requests: chasing after ducks, getting into dark foresty areas. (Thanks to our assistant Becky who went in first to swat at whatever webs or insect possibilities. we love Becky and all her amazing efforts!)

Brett were you stepping on Christine's train? :P a thing about perfect timing at this wedding, with the rain coming in and out at perfect times. eve when we took detail shots of the reception tables, a cruise liner was coming in to dock and we got all the sparkly lights of it in the window behind! how much more perfect can this wedding be! the dad's speech... cake time! Ok....so Christine and Brett would know...this was the last shot I took before I totally tripped on the steps....good thing the limo in back of me stopped my fall...whewww! This shot is so very special: on the signature registry at the Wayfarers Chapel had all of the couples that married there. and on it, were their parents names! they were married there too!

This wedding was quite a challenge for us but we loved it! There was a little bit of rain here and there throughout the day, but it all worked out beautifully. When there was a bit of the rain, the ceremony was beginning at the beautiful glass chapel of the Wayfarers Chapel. When the ceremony was over and time for group photos, the rain stopped! And at the end of the romantic session, the rain started to drizzle again and it was perfect for the couple to do some cute shots with an umbrella. of course, what's a Chinese event without red pockets! Joseph's aunt was the life of the party! Joanne couldn't stop cracking up during the family portraits. such a cute girl. in the bath tub: a bit experimental in a sense where it is abstract portraiture for weddings and engagements, but we think it's simply beautiful. and who said we are traditional!

the now mother in law was giving Joanne the traditional gold jewelry while her dad watched at the doorway. at every event, it moves me to just watch the dad's and parents' faces on these beautiful occasions.

So it is the end of the year, and we seems to have a slew of traditional Asian ceremonies that we have the pleasure of attending. It seems that traditional Asian ceremonies are on dates that are picked out according to the lunar calendar to have the best of luck for weddings or engagements. On November 22nd, Joseph and Joanne had the big celebration of their engagement! They had the traditional tea ceremony, exchanging of the gifts from each families, and of course, red pockets everywhere! After the luncheon, we went to nearby location to do some additional romantic photos for the 2. Check out their web slideshow.

Evelyn + Hung. the Big Day!

This was a traditional Chinese wedding ceremony. In the morning, Hung brings over all sorts of gifts (including a whole roasted pig which is a must in the culture!) to Evelyn's family, and passes all sorts of obstacle tests given by the bridesmaids, and paid all sorts of red pockets (red bags with money in it)to win over Evelyn's hand. It was very funny to watch as Hung and his guys were getting embarrassed by the bridesmaids' tough games including reciting love poems and eating weird combinations of foods. Then it was the tea ceremony, along with incenses offered to the ancestors to complete the marriage ceremony. At night, loads of fun and confetti at the reception for a huge party, of course, with Evelyn making 3 outfit changes! Check out their web slideshow.

This is what the Queen Mary is about: so very full of an old world feel. Of course we have to capture that! Reed holding Becky's ring. moments before entering the chapel, Becky and here dad had a very moving moment. Beautiful day at the Queen Mary for Becky and Reed's big day! To start off, in a stateroom for Becky's getting ready, where she was also keeping busy with many phone calls to organize and prepping the event. cutest cufflinks we've ever seen! their initials! and what's a better way to end the night with all your friends and family lighting up a tunnel of sparklers for the grand exit! These 2 ran fast! The beautiful moment, with a bit of our digital magic, to make this photo even more spectacular. First dance! always so very meaningful and moving, to peek at the parents and their faces say it all. No need to hold back them tears Mary! the first look on Wesley when Dad walked Jennifer down the aisle. The weather this day was a little nerve wrecking in the morning as it looked like it was going to rain. But by the time we got to Jennifer and Wesley's venue, it was a perfect bit of overcast with a little bit of sun peeking through. As opposed to what a lot of people think about what's the perfect weather for photography, overcasts are quite perfect for some weddings. If it's not lots of blue skies you're looking for in your photos, the soft light from an overcast sky actually makes everyone look perfect. I'll bet Bonnie was anxious to see this one. After taking this photo, we told her that we will not let her peek at it on the LCD screen because it is very unique, and could be a love or hate situation with the gridline shadows on them. But we gotta take the risk and always try to push the envelop and think outside the box! Love love love this photo! Cute! The 2 got into the groove and started dancing! no posing necessary :) And we were worrying about the weather being cloudy or gloomy... Sorry but we really have to say that CA weather forecasts are really not very accurate! We almost switched our shoot location because we thought there weren't going to be any blue skies. but good thing that we took a chance, and it was perfect!

This wedding was very unique and just more than perfect. Rebecca and Joseph had the colors and theme of the wedding coordinated so beautifully. We especially loved the bridesmaids' bouquets as they are all different but with the same colors. Beautiful! At night, their cake was "Nightmare before Christmas" themed. This is definitely a Cloud 9'ner. Cutest cake and cake topper ever, a vintage wedding dress, and a very beautiful lighting decor at the reception hall. Before the wedding, Joyce discussed all sorts of possible locations for some photo time after the ceremony. And i think we made the right choice at a nearby metrolink station! This shoot for us became all about colors and we had plenty of fun just laughing about with the wedding party. This was a morning wedding, and the weather was really quite perfect as the temperature was not the typical hot September heat. However, we still wanted to avoid the 12 o'clock sun so we actually started photos for Lam and Tinh before the ceremony to get the nice and soft light. It was a really fun event. Lulu and John had a huge party. Guests came from all over the country to join the big day and give big love to the couple. With the cutest floral and decor, and the coolest wedding cup cakes, this party had style, fun, and of course, lots of love! Amanda and Victor's event was very romantic and extravagant, at the luxurious Mission Inn in Riverside. For those of you who have been to the Mission Inn or have seen a Mission Inn Wedding, the feel it gives off is always very grand, and somewhat traditional with it's beautiful architecture. From what we know of Amanda and Victor, however, their style is a good mixture of this classical beauty, with young, hip contemporary spin. As opposed to most photographs taken here with a traditional feel, we went the extra step and added in more dynamics in the camera angles, and more colors and post production work to match Amanda and Victor's classical-contemporary style. Christy and Kyle are very fun and unique people. Throughout the day, we couldn't help but just constantly had smiles on our faces because they're just such fun and warm people. Kyle, being as tall as he is, of course had to do a fun photo with the wedding party that involved a basketball. But when the guys were alone, the other photo they did was pretending to play dice, with money, and the rings in the pot. Haha very very cute. Now does Christy know that Kyle did that? So if you're having a wedding in Maui, how can you not do a Day After shoot and totally explore what is the famous waterfalls and rainforests there! Us Cloud 9'ners arrived a couple days ahead of the wedding, and scouted out almost the entire island and have found them a beautiful nature reserve with jungles and streams, and of course "THE" perfect waterfall! And since the shoot was the day after the wedding in the early morning hours, we were able to keep cool without the blazing sun rays, as well as to avoid tourist hours. We actually had the reserve and the waterfall completely to us!

So the anticipate Maui wedding has finally arrived. And we had a blast! Even until now we still can't believe how blue the skies and waters, how friendly the locals, and how much fun there is to have a wedding in Maui! Reception at at Luau too! And of course, Tony and Christine were so very organized and had planned for everything perfectly. We especially loved how they had color coordinated the wedding party. We had lots of fun referring to each wedding couple by their colors when we called on them :P This is yet another huge event that required 2 highlight slideshows to showcase their photos: Part 1 for hopeless romantics out there, and Part 2 for the party people!

ok... So this wasn't exactly a day after, but almost a year after! Casey and Daniel were married last October, and had been so busy after the wedding, they were finally able to free up some time and get this shoot goin'! And due to some traffic issues, we started the shoot later than expected, with not as much available light as expected. But the shoot was definitely more fun, challenging, and unique that way. Half of their shots were taken right around sun set, and the other half was done in complete darkness! But the shots were exactly what stands for us Cloud 9'ners! Spontaneous and unique!

Natalia was such a beautiful bride! and knew how to work the camera too! So after 2 hours of driving, we arrived at their beautiful venue where both Natalia and Keith got ready at. So the anticipation for the big day is rewarded with a beautiful and extravagant event. Exotic and beautiful decor, colors, and of course the beautiful bride and the charming groom. Adding to this Indian event, is also a Ukranian touch from Joe. With a traditional shirt and tie for the ceremony, and a warm dedication of a traditional pastry from the parents at night. the train here was a lot slower then it looks. we love this shot! a breeze picked up and blew Tabitha's veil straight up! Jeffrey anxiously waiting for the first reveal with Tabitha... Tabitha and Jeffrey had a beautiful day of photos, along with an awesome night reception. Throughout the day, we went to a nearby state beach for some photos with the wedding party. The beach, however, requires all beach goers to cross an active railroad track. It has a little walkway with the descending arms to block traffic when the train is approaches, except it's not car traffic, but all people traffic. It's very fun...at the same time a little nerve wrecking. Had a couple of false alarms where we thought a train is coming through since the red lights on the arms were on. However, when the train really came, everyone thought it was the false alarm again and didn't get out until the arms started descending....yes we had to duck our heads and get to the safe side from underneath the arm. However, because of that, we actually got the couple in front of the track while the train passed by. Really cool shot! Check out their web slideshow!

because we are always working so quick, we occasionally do these test shots while myself or my assistants are either standing where the target scenery is, fixing a pose, grabbing the veil, or simply walking about. the shot is often taken without anyone noticing (including the subject). and so here are the proof! there's me with my double chin, Becky tangled in the veil, and Bill walking into the shot...haha! the best of us Cloud 9'ners. 1 person is missing from our awesome team: Johnny seems to be able to duck out of all of these shots. we're so going to get him one of these days, maybe when he's stuffing his face during dinner or something :P

Griffith Observatory, where Rey proposed to Kelly...these photos must be that much more meaningful to them. Poor Kelly was such a good sport throughout the shoot. Although she had an injured ankle coming to the shoot, she still walked around and did all the photos without a wink of discomfort on her face. Just a very sweet girl, plus a very sweet guy.

Again, we are back at the beautiful Mission Inn in Riverside. Just as beautiful, are the people. Everyone was always very fun and energetic, not a moment of dullness. Of course, the petals after the ceremony had to be the climax, with everyone screaming in excitement (actually, we screamed too!)
